Although internal communication is becoming increasingly important for most companies, many communications departments lack the necessary resources. Small teams are faced with the challenge of managing an ever-increasing number of topics, content and channels. In addition to internal messages and updates, they often also have to keep up with current trends and relevant content from external sources, as well as spend a lot of time coordinating within the organization. All of this quickly overwhelms the capacity of a small team.
This is where AI agents (or “agentic AI” – there are actually different terms that mean the same thing) come into play, which can give teams a real productivity boost in the future. Leading publishers such as Ippen are betting heavily on it. In the corporate environment, it is also one of the hot “stocks” within the popular AI field.
What are AI agents?
AI agents, or artificial intelligence agents, are digital tools that can perform tasks autonomously – like a team member (or maybe let’s say an intern!). They are based on artificial intelligence and machine learning and are able to analyze data, make decisions and perform certain actions automatically – often without human intervention.
They act like a human in the browser, which means they can perform all the tasks that a human with a classic user interface on a PC can perform.
In the context of internal communication, AI agents can help with a variety of activities and challenges, including things that are quite complex and take up a lot of time in everyday life. At tchop, we are currently working on introducing such assistants to make our customers’ daily work easier. Development is still in its early stages and many technical questions remain unanswered, but the first tests are promising.
In the following, we would like to give an outlook on tasks that may soon be taken over by AI.
Automated curation and management of content
tchop.io, among other things, has specialized in curating content, because our customers often already have enough of their own content. Often, all that is missing is efficient means of smartly bringing this together from the various channels. With the support of AI agents, completely new possibilities arise.
We offer various integrations to automatically import content from other platforms, pages or systems. Websites and platforms that do not offer open interfaces always pose challenges for us. AI agents can be a lean, scalable solution for this. Even more complex workflows can be implemented much more easily. Some examples of tasks that an AI can perform better:
- Copy all posts of a specific LinkedIn user and create them as content in a specific mix at tchop
- Collecting or summarizing news on a specific topic from different sites or sources
- Track and automatically adopt or summarize input from competitors or other market participants
- Copy content as a link or as a “long post” with all individual elements
- Automatically remove unnecessary text or SEO elements from headlines
- Provide content in your own news feed with different layouts (to achieve more variety)
- Automatic tagging of content based on certain characteristics
- Find or create suitable images for a content, text or headline
- Create summaries of all new content of a day or week
Whenever it comes to taking over, copying, summarizing or even creating content, an AI can automatically take over simple or recurring tasks. As often as desired, for as long as desired – equipped with all the options that a normal user has in the browser. But: the agent never gets tired, it can carry out any task as often as it wants.
Increase engagement and interaction
Another valuable function of the AI agents in tchop.io will be the ability to send targeted and automatic push or chat messages to individual employees, groups or even everyone. The AI can access all content and usage data and use this to inform individual groups of users – via push notification, chat message or email.
The AI agent can, for example, automatically summarize the content of a week and also include user-generated content, comments or other discussions in its own app.
Through intelligent analysis of user data, the AI can determine which topics are particularly relevant for individual target groups and deliver this content to them at exactly the right moment. This means that employees receive the information that is personally relevant to them – at the ideal time. This function promotes engagement and makes it possible to address people in a targeted and individual manner, even in large companies with numerous employees.
Open data protection questions
An important aspect that we take into account when developing these technologies is data protection. At tchop.io, we plan to use AI agents in such a way that no personal or customer-related data needs to be transmitted to external AI services. All processes remain within the platform and are subject to our customers’ strict data protection guidelines. Of course, there are still many aspects to be clarified in detail, but we are confident that there are secure, sustainable solutions for this (e.g. by only processing and transmitting data anonymously or randomly). The fact that the AI acts as an agent in the browser – like a normal user – offers new framework conditions and opportunities.
Conclusion: Superpowers for small teams
The use of AI agents has great potential, especially for smaller communications teams. Instead of getting lost in time-consuming manual processes, these teams can focus their creativity and know-how on developing ideas, content and strategies, while AI takes over a relevant share of the simple, recurring operational work. With AI agents at their side, teams gain “superpowers” so to speak and can work at a high level without having to add additional resources.
At tchop.io, we are actively working to integrate the capabilities of AI agents into our platform and make optimal use of them for the requirements of modern internal communication.
